Blue Diamond Growers, which first produced Almond Breeze in the US in 1998, is more than 100 years old and today is the largest selling almond milk in the world. 1850
Our story starts more than 150 years ago, in 1850, when a group of pioneering farmers recognised that the fertile lands of California mirrored those of the Mediterranean, where almond trees thrived. So they planted in the abundant soils of Sacramento, Monterey and Los Angeles, and boy, did those almond trees thrive!
1910
Sixty years later, those visionary farmers had become hundreds of growers, and together they created the cooperative, The California Almond Growers Exchange.
The Exchange quickly became the world’s largest nut processing plant covering 33 city blocks on around 90 acres, elevating almond production from being a minor domestic specialty crop to the world leader in almond production and marketing.
1915
Five years later The Exchange adopted the ‘Blue Diamond’ logo to symbolise rarity, purity and quality, emblematic of the rarest diamond in the world. This new mark of quality gave consumers a clear distinction between the almonds grown California, and those from Spain and Italy. The Blue Diamond legacy had begun!
The thriving California orchards blossomed brightly with the distinctive almond blossom each new season (pictured above) and family businesses swelled so that our Blue Diamond Growers Co-operative members became more 3,000 strong. This number represents an abundance of knowledge, expertise, skill and passion for growing the best almonds in California.

1931
When the US and the Western world were grappling with the Great Depression, Blue Diamond prospered beyond expectation, delivering more than 9 million kilograms of quality almonds harvested by four thousand passionate almond growers. The Exchange gained patents for processing and product developments including a patent for our uniquely crafted Almond Breeze almond milk.
1998
Blue Diamond launched its now legendary Almond Breeze almond milk for millions of US households to enjoy every day.
2011
New Zealand became one of the first countries in the world to embrace Almond Breeze almond milk on supermarket shelves providing Kiwis a healthy, delicious and nutritious milk alternative.
2018
Today, every carton of Blue Diamond Almond Breeze almond milk is grown from the best Californian almonds all carrying this beautiful story.
